Baronial

Gather with us, Friends and Cousins, as we celebrate

Red Plains Baronial of Wiesenfeuer and Eldern Hills

Their Excellencies, Baronesses Valia of the Mists and Deirdre Ni' Raghailligh of Wiesenfeuer
and Baron Aiden Wilden and Baroness Sabiha al-Zarqa' bint Hakim al-'Attar as well as the jovial people of
Wiesenfeuer and Eldern Hills ask you to join us as we determine both sets of Champions!

April 14-16, 2017 at Foss Lake

This is to be a grand venture featuring very special prizes for our Chivalric, Rapier, and Archery Champions. Vie for the honor and titles of Wiesenfeuer's Bardic, Thrown Weapons, Middle Eastern Dancing and Drumming Championships! There may be Friday Night Fights returning!

There will be Cut & Thrust at Red Plains Baronial. Combatants should prepare for an Arthurian inspired format. Elevated appearance, chivalric virtue based combat, potentially a few armour as worn rounds, and similar deeds from legend and historic writings.

How we will judge another Dirty Dozen Donation Derby! Dirty Dozen Donation Derby (4D) is simple. Bring a dozen of something to donate for largesse. Populace votes on their favorite largesse item. All items will be donated and combined into a dozen largesse baskets. One basket goes to the winner of the vote, the other 11 baskets go to Their Excellencies to give out as largesse whenever needed. Your hard work and awesomeness will contribute directly to your Barony's prestige throughout the Known World, and you just might even win a basket of awesomeness to keep. Please see the Wiesenfeuer Arts and Science Minister for more information.

Red Plains Baronial 2017 Arts and Science GROUP PROJECTS!
Specialization of labor was one of the defining characteristics of commerce in medieval society. During our period of study, people became really good at doing one thing. Products passed through many hands on their way from raw materials to finished products. Much of our competition centered A&S culture encourages people to abandon this model in favor of a single artisan sheep-to-shawl model that was much less common in period. Let's revive the old ways with some interesting group projects! The rules are simple: Three or more members to a group, each with their own unique role to play in the process. That's it. Feel free as individuals to join up with as many groups as you like. You have a year and a half to come up with ideas, find partners, form groups, organize your projects, complete them and document them. I will have a special prize basket for the winning group, which should be very inspirational. It will include some products of group efforts, including some local honey, beeswax and bee propolis, each of which are the product of a whole hive of bees working together. Any one bee alone would quickly die off, but through teamwork they can make unique things that none of us, and no single one of them, could make.
